Data Projectors Require Regular Cleaning
Installed Projectors In Classrooms and Meeting Rooms
Installed projectors in schools, once fitted, are often forgotten, until that
is there is a problem!
Projector Cutting Out? Poor quality or dim image?
Often the first time many users will have cause to think about the projector
is when the picture becomes dim and unfocussed, or when the projector cuts out
whilst in use.
These symptoms are typical of neglected equipment where routine cleaning has
not been carried out.
Older projectors would often struggle on despite filters blocked with dust
and fibers, this was not a good thing as once the filters were blocked, the fans
would pull dust into the projector htis being deposited on the internal optics,
LCD panels and filters etc. The result of this dust is a slowly reducing picture
clarity, sometimes patchy images, the projector overheats, projector life is
reduced and lamps fail prematurly.
More modern projectors have better airflow sensing, these will cut out and
usually indicate by LED indicatiors that the unit has overheated. The projector
will restart once the unit has cooled sufficiently, but will cut out again with
increasing frequency.
Routine cleaning improves performance
With all IT and AV technologies, but specifically projection systems, there is a
duty of care to take into consideration to maintain and maximise the life of a
projector.
Simple routine cleaning and maintenance will help users and owners optimise
the life of their projectors - and improve and maintain performance.
Keeping projectors clear of dust
Dust is everywhere especially within primary schools and a real challenge to
the functionality and reliability of any technology. There are very few
environments that are completely dust-free, so regular cleaning will help
prolong the life of a projector and reduce the build-up of dust which can
dramatically reduce life and performance.
Remember, failures as a result of poor maintenance or dust can be costly to
repair, and in most cases are not covered under warranty by most manufactures.
The symptoms of dust vary but in general the following are typical of dust
ingress:
Flickering
Intermittent shut down
Reduced image quality
Higher than expected lamp usage
It is recommended that a regular maintenance service regime is considered.
To ensure that your projectors remain in tip-top condition, we recommend that
you initiate a maintenance and service programme in accordance with the simple
cleaning instructions that are detailed in the Users Guide.
A scheduled maintenance programme will help to ensure that maintenance is
carried out at regular intervals which will help to protect your investment.
Maintenance support is available to suit your specific needs
As a reseller, installer, integrator and maintainer of audio visual and
projector systems, we can offer a Regular Preventative Maintenance Service for
all of your installed equipment.
Better value is acihieved by benefitting from a site-wide cleaning of all
your installed projectors, rather than dealing with single projector cleaning
events as they crop up.
At a MINIMUM we recommend that in school classrooms, the priojector filters
should be cleaned at least three times a year. The actual frequency varies from
class to clas, school to school and seasopn to season. SOme projector
manufacturers recommend cleaning at intervals as short as 150 hours of
operation.
Audio Visual Services
(avsglos) can arrange arrange on-site visits to carry out preventative
maintenance on your projectors at pre-agreed intervals throughout the year.
With a Preventative Maintenance Service contract supplied by us, you also
benefit from a routine safety check of the projector, it's installation security
and safety and cabling, we will advise you of potential safety issues that might
otherwise go unnoticed.
